Holmleigh resident bowls over care community with cricket skills

One of our Service Users is enjoying life at the crease after he was selected to play for a disability team run by Gloucestershire Cricket Board.

Stephen Parsons, a resident at Elmlea care home in London Road, Gloucester, was picked to play for Gloucestershire’s disability county team, having impressed coaches with his dedication to the sport.

Stephen has a variety of care needs, but this has not prevented him from competing in a tournament with the team, which recently took place in Hampshire.

Suzanne Hanratty, manager at Holmleigh’s Elmlea care home, said: “Stephen requires support with all aspects of daily life. However, he hasn’t let this stop him and he has gone on to do extremely well playing for Gloucestershire.

“He really enjoys playing cricket and we are so glad that this team is available locally to help him enjoy his passion.”

Rod Correia, managing director of Holmleigh Care, added: “We are all immensely proud of Stephen for his progress both on and off the cricket pitch.

“At Holmleigh we aim to help people live independent lives and I think this clearly demonstrates the nurturing nature of our staff and our group.”

At Holmleigh Care, we take pride in helping our Service Users to live as active and fulfilling lives as possible. For further information on our services, please contact us.
